After reviewing my social media profiles, posts, and conversations, I have realized that some things I said and posted can create legal problems for me. According to Whitney, S. (2018), social media platforms give nurses and the public a space to air their views and opinions regarding various things in multiple ways. Various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter (now X), Instagram, and other platforms allow nurses to conversate with one another. Sometimes, when airing our opinions, we might be conversing with patients without knowing. After reviewing my social media profiles, I have realized that I once posted about my patients and colleagues. Although I did not disclose any private information on social media, I discussed a case I was handling with complete strangers on social media. Although the conversation started as an innocent engagement, I could not take control of the direction that the conversation took. Based on the professional standards of nursing practice, discussing an ongoing case is illegal and punishable by law. Although I deleted these posts, I realize it was wrong to discuss such on social media because my post invited opinions from unlicensed people
